JSW Energy Limited — Important, 06-03-2025: General Updates
JSW Energy has successfully completed the acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited, following the approval of its Resolution Plan under the corporate insolvency resolution process. The company paid a resolution amount of ₹16,084 Crore and now holds 74% equity in KSK Mahanadi, which owns a 3,600 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh. Of this capacity, 1,800 MW is currently operational, and the remaining is under construction.
This acquisition aligns with JSW’s strategic goal to reach a total capacity of 20 GW by FY2030, significantly enhancing its thermal power portfolio right before peak demand season. KSK Mahanadi boasts fuel supply agreements and firm power purchase agreements that secure its operational capacity. The asset’s acquisition, valued at ₹16,084 Crore, marks a significant milestone as it increases JSW's operational capacity to 10,200 MW, including both thermal and renewable sources. The company aims to further enhance EBITDA from this asset within the next 12-18 months while pursuing its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.
