Coal India LimitedUpdates, 02-03-2025: Press Release

02-03-2025 | 02:03 pm

Coal India Limited (CIL) has introduced a significant change for its non-power sector (NPS) consumers by waiving the financial coverage requirement of ten days’ coal value for coal received via rail. This move aims to simplify business transactions and enhance operational efficiency, relieving the financial burden on NPS consumers and improving their cash liquidity.

With this initiative, CIL seeks to support NPS customers by freeing up capital that can be redirected towards other operational needs, thereby alleviating working capital pressure. So far this financial year, CIL supplied around 560 million tonnes (MT) of coal to the power sector and approximately 134 MT to NPS consumers, with rail transport accounting for 55% of total supplies. This initiative is part of CIL's broader strategy to modernize the coal supply process and aligns with government efforts to create a more transparent and cost-effective business environment. Investors should watch closely as this could lead to increased operational capacity and improved relations with NPS consumers.
