NTPC Limited and its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Ltd, have entered into multiple MoUs with the Government of Madhya Pradesh during the Global Investors Summit. These agreements signify a commitment to invest over Rs 2 lakh crore in renewable energy projects in the state, which include solar, wind, and pumped hydro systems.
A notable MoU will see the establishment of renewable energy projects up to 20 GW, with an investment of approximately Rs 1,20,000 crore, facilitating a joint venture to meet the Renewable Generation Obligation. Another agreement focuses on non-fossil fuel power plants, earmarked for an investment of Rs 80,000 crore. Additionally, there's an intent to invest Rs 4,000 crore for an 800 MW pumped hydro storage project.
These initiatives align with India’s energy transition and Net Zero targets, reinforcing NTPC's role as the largest integrated power utility in India, currently meeting a quarter of the nation's energy demand with an installed capacity exceeding 77 GW. This strategic move enhances NTPC's growth trajectory, underscoring a positive outlook for the company’s sustainable energy initiatives.
