KKR, a leading global investment firm, has acquired a controlling stake in Healthcare Global Enterprises (HCG), a prominent Indian healthcare organization, in a transaction valued at approximately $400 million. KKR will purchase up to 54% equity from CVC Asia V at a price of INR 445 per share, with plans to conduct an open offer for additional shares. This positions KKR as the largest shareholder, potentially holding between 54-77% of HCG post-transaction.
HCG operates 25 oncology centers across 19 cities in India, equipped with 2,500 beds and nearly 100 operating theaters. KKR’s investment aims to enhance HCG’s healthcare infrastructure and oncology services. Dr. BS Ajaikumar, HCG's Founder, will transition to Non-Executive Chairman, focusing on clinical excellence and research. This strategic partnership is expected to strengthen HCG's market position and drive growth in India's healthcare sector, making it an important development for investors to monitor closely. The transaction is slated to finalize by the third quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
