For the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2024, the consolidated financial results of State Bank of India (SBI) reflect strong performance amidst operational efficiencies.

Total income stood at ₹1,28,467.39 crore, representing a growth of approximately 8.47% year-over-year. Key drivers for this growth included increased interest income driven by higher advances and an uptick in demand across segments. The bank’s interest earned for the quarter was ₹1,17,426.63 crore, up from ₹1,06,733.78 crore the previous year.

Net profit for the quarter reached ₹16,891.44 crore, showing a significant increase of 83.38% compared to ₹9,163.96 crore in the same quarter last year. This translates to basic earnings per share (EPS) of ₹18.93, rising from ₹10.27. The surge in profitability was largely attributed to controlled operational costs and improved asset quality, reflected in the net non-performing assets (NPAs) ratio, which was stable at 0.53%.

Operating expenses saw a slight increase of about 9.03%, rising to ₹28,935.46 crore, primarily due to higher employee costs and operational expenses related to expansion.

SBI's balance sheet remains robust, with total assets climbing to ₹66,20,674.44 crore. The capital adequacy ratio stands at a healthy 13.03%, ensuring the bank is well-capitalized to support future growth and manage risks.

Outlook highlights cost management and strategic expansions as key focus areas, reflecting a positive market sentiment aimed at maintaining growth momentum. This performance warrants a buy view for investors looking to capitalize on future growth opportunities.
