Torrent Power Limited reported robust financial performance for the half-year period. Total revenue increased by 5.5% to ₹2,718 crore compared to ₹2,569 crore in the previous year, driven mainly by higher sales and efficient operations in its distribution franchise areas. The company's EBITDA rose to ₹456 crore, though slightly down from ₹476 crore in the prior period, reflecting improved margins supported by regulatory mechanisms that allowed timely tariff recovery.

Net profit for the half-year stood at ₹204 crore, down from ₹276 crore year-over-year. The Earnings Per Share (EPS) was calculated at ₹5.71. The decline in profitability is attributed to high operational costs, particularly due to increased power purchase costs, and a lower contribution from merchant sales.

Torrent Power's operational costs saw a marginal reduction of around 3%, demonstrating effective cost management amidst rising expenses. The balance sheet remains strong, as net leverage has decreased to 1.9x, indicating improved financial health and the capacity to fund ongoing capital expenditures.

Looking ahead, the company’s strategic focus on expanding its renewable energy portfolio and reducing technical losses in its distribution network is likely to enhance EBITDA growth in the coming quarters. Current market sentiment remains positive, and based on financial metrics and forward-looking opportunities, a buy insight is suggested for investors considering long-term growth in the energy sector.
