Swiggy Limited has announced a board meeting on February 5, 2025, to review its financial results for the quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2024.
In terms of consolidated operations, the company reported revenue of ₹39,931 crore, reflecting a robust year-over-year growth of approximately 31% from ₹30,487 crore. This growth can be attributed to increased demand for food delivery and quick commerce services, alongside successful market expansion strategies and enhanced operational efficiencies.
Despite the revenue increase, the company incurred a net loss of ₹7,991 crore for the quarter, widening from a loss of ₹5,744 crore in the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS) stood at a loss of ₹3.48, influenced by rising operational costs, particularly in employee benefits and advertising. Operational costs surged by 32% to ₹48,983 crore, emphasizing challenges in cost management amid aggressive marketing and heightened delivery expenses.
The balance sheet indicates a continued investment focus, with net equity remaining negative at ₹77,848 crore, raising concerns about long-term sustainability. The total comprehensive loss for the period amounted to ₹7,999 crore, indicating persistent operational headwinds.
Analyzing Swiggy's strategic position and outlook, the company is likely to continue prioritizing market penetration and service diversification, which could enhance its competitive edge, but it faces significant pressures from rising costs and operational inefficiencies.
From an investor perspective, the current performance suggests a cautious stance, leaning towards "hold" due to fundamental challenges while monitoring for improvements in operational efficiency and market conditions.
