04-02-2025 | 04:52 pm

GTL Limited has reported a notable decline in its financial performance for the recent quarter. The consolidated revenue from operations for the quarter ended December 31, 2024, stood at ₹51.03 crore, down from ₹69.89 crore in the preceding quarter and an increase from ₹43.46 crore year-over-year. This translates to a quarter-on-quarter decline of approximately 27% and a year-over-year growth of 17.4%. The revenue dip can be attributed to decreased demand in key segments, impacting overall operational performance.

The company recorded a net loss of ₹41.82 crore for the quarter, contrasting sharply with a profit of ₹9.34 crore in the same quarter last year. The calculated Earnings Per Share (EPS) for the period was -₹2.66, compared to ₹0.59 previously. Factors contributing to the loss include significant operational costs, notably employee benefits expenses rising to ₹252.36 crore, and an increase in finance costs, primarily due to exchange losses amounting to ₹267.55 crore.

Operational costs surged 59% quarter-over-quarter to ₹88.55 crore, highlighting operational inefficiencies and an increase in exchange rate volatility impacting financial stability.

The balance sheet indicates precarious financial health, with current liabilities exceeding current assets, while the company struggles with long-standing debt issues, including ongoing insolvency proceedings.

Given the deteriorating net worth and challenges faced, market sentiment may be cautious. For investors, this indicates a hold position, pending further clarity on debt resolution and operational revitalization. GTL’s future hinges on effective cost management and strategic recovery initiatives that could stabilize its financial situation.
