TCL Specialties LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Thirumalai Chemicals Limited, is making significant progress on its Petrochemical and Fine Chemicals/Food Ingredients plants in West Virginia, USA. The advanced construction phase of Phase I is budgeted at approximately US$ 200 million. The facility will produce over 40,000 tons/year of Maleic Anhydride and 30,000 tons/year of food ingredients and fine chemicals. These new plants are set to enter substantial markets, including food and beverage manufacturing, lightweight composites for mobility and infrastructure, biodegradable packaging, and water treatment.
With over 99% of assembly at TCL Technology & Engineering completed, the first shipments of the modular plants began in June 2024, and final testing is expected to start in Q3 2025. This project is the first of four phases aimed at establishing a comprehensive specialty materials range, tapping into the significant U.S. market demand and leveraging local natural gas resources. The plants are expected to commence operations in Q4 2025, presenting a positive outlook for growth opportunities in North America and beyond.
