25-01-2025 | 04:47 pm

NTPC Limited has reported a solid performance for the quarter ended December 2024, with installed capacity increasing to 76,598 MW, a rise of 2,724 MW compared to the previous year. Gross generation recorded was 91.25 billion units (BUs), marking a year-over-year increase of 1.99%. Energy sent out totaled 85.06 BUs, reflecting a growth of 1.44%.

Coal production from captive mines surged to 10.98 MMT, up 35.72% from the prior year, indicating a rational shift in operational dynamics. The average tariff improved to Rs 4.68, up from Rs 4.57. The Plant Load Factor (PLF) for coal stood at 75.98%, maintaining a stable operational efficiency. However, gas production saw significant declines, dropping 48.29% to 1.06 MMT, signaling challenges in this segment.

Overall, NTPC’s robust coal production and increased generation capabilities provide a positive outlook for continued operational strength, though volatility in gas consumption poses risks to monitor.
