Mr. Achyut Ghatak has taken over as Director (Technical) of Coal India Limited (CIL), succeeding Dr. B Veera Reddy. Ghatak brings nearly two decades of experience in mechanized underground mining and has held key positions in the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute and CIL's corporate headquarters. His background includes substantial expertise in project monitoring and strategic planning.

CIL aims to achieve a production target of 100 million tonnes from its underground mines by FY 2029, making Ghatak's experience particularly valuable. He played a significant role in formulating the underground vision plan, which is pivotal for the company's roadmap toward 1 Billion tonnes of production. Ghatak emphasized that the focus will be on increasing coal production, adopting emerging technologies, enhancing coal transportation systems, and advancing research and development initiatives.
