Indian Energy Exchange Limited — Updates, 23-01-2025: Press Release
Electricity volumes for Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reached 30.5 billion units (BU) in Q3 FY25, marking a robust 15.9% increase year-on-year. The company's total consolidated revenue for the quarter stood at ₹160.5 crore, up 13.7% from ₹141.2 crore in Q3 FY24, while consolidated profit after tax (PAT) rose 16.9% to ₹107.3 crore.
The growth was supported by favorable market conditions, including a substantial 62% year-on-year increase in sell quantum due to plentiful coal supply, resulting in reduced prices in the Day Ahead market, which averaged ₹3.71/unit—down nearly 26% from the previous year. IEX also traded 26.52 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates, a 31% increase, highlighting the growing demand for green energy.
In the gas sector, the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) saw significant growth, trading 162 lakh MMBtu, up 93% from the prior year, with a PAT of ₹8.3 crore. This growth underscores IEX's positive outlook and expanding market presence, driven by increased energy consumption and emerging trading opportunities in renewable and gas markets.
