JSW Energy Limited — Important, 15-01-2025: General Updates
JSW Energy (Utkal) Limited has successfully synchronised Unit-2 (350 MW) of its Utkal Thermal Power Plant located in Odisha. This achievement comes following the acquisition of the plant under NCLT proceedings in December 2022, marking the full revival of the plant's 700 MW capacity in roughly 24 months. Currently operational using domestic coal, this facility adds significant capacity at a time of increasing demand for energy, enhancing the company’s ability to support national power security needs. With this synchronisation, JSW Energy's operating thermal capacity rises to 3,858 MW, contributing to its total locked-in generation capacity of 28.2 GW. This positions the company well to achieve its target of 20 GW well before 2030, while it remains committed to a net zero emissions target by 2050. A positive outlook is anticipated as this aligns with the company's strategy to diversify its fuel mix and geographical footprint.
