Zaynich® (Zidebactam/Cefepime, WCK 5222) has demonstrated over 97% efficacy in a clinical study focused on serious infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative pathogens. The study involved 15 top-rated tertiary care hospitals and included severe infection types such as hospital-acquired pneumonia and bloodstream infections. Notably, pathogen eradication rates were high, with efficacy reaching 100% for bloodstream and certain pneumonia patients. With a treatment duration of 7 to 21 days, Zaynich® is positioned as a potential life-saving antibiotic for challenging infections that current treatments like colistin cannot adequately address.

This development is critical given the rising threat of antimicrobial resistance globally. Wockhardt's antibiotic is nearing the end of a multi-national Phase III study, aimed at global registration. This position not only highlights Wockhardt's innovative approach to antibiotic resistance but also reinforces its commitment to addressing this significant healthcare challenge, presenting a positive outlook for potential growth in its drug discovery portfolio.
