Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited — Updates, 11-01-2025: Press Release

The Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, has launched MRPL's new product, Toluene, at the refinery. With an annual production capacity of 40 TMT, this facility supports India’s drive towards self-reliance and enhances competitiveness in the petrochemical industry. Currently, India’s annual demand for Toluene is approximately 650 TMT, with only 160 TMT produced domestically. MRPL’s new capacity will significantly reduce the import dependency for this versatile hydrocarbon, used across industries such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals, and is projected to contribute around $3 million in foreign exchange savings annually. This initiative aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, fostering both industrial growth and economic stability.
