December sales figures for Ashok Leyland show a mixed performance in the domestic market. The company's Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) truck sales increased by 9% in December 2024 compared to December 2023, with total M&HCV sales up by 6%. However, cumulative sales for M&HCV trucks are down by 8%, indicating weaker overall demand year-to-date. The M&HCV bus segment saw a significant rise in cumulative sales by 27%, though December’s figures were down by 12%. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales remained flat with a minor 0% increase for the month but a 3% decrease cumulatively.

When considering both domestic and export sales, M&HCV truck sales rose by 11% for the month, yet cumulative sales still declined by 7%. LCV exports also showed a slight decline of 1% for December. Overall vehicle sales improved by 5% for the month but are down 2% on a cumulative basis. Investors should watch closely for developments in the domestic market amid these mixed signals in performance.
