Praj Industries has achieved a milestone by inaugurating India's first national highway using lignin-based bio-bitumen, a more sustainable alternative to conventional fossil-based bitumen. This significant development, inaugurated by Hon. Minister Nitin Gadkari, forms part of the Nagpur-Mansar Bypass project on NH 44. The bio-bitumen, capable of partially replacing fossil-derived bitumen, has shown a potential 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions when blended at up to 15%.

India will need approximately 15 lakh tons of bio-bitumen for this blending, potentially saving ₹4000-4500 crore in foreign exchange. This initiative aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative and supports the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by reducing dependency on imported materials. The successful application of this technology has already been validated through a service road project in Gujarat, demonstrating its reliability. Praj's ongoing commitment to sustainable infrastructure positions it favorably as a leader in the eco-friendly construction materials market, bringing both positive outlooks and potential growth opportunities.
