Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited has successfully delivered the ‘Nilgiri,’ the first stealth frigate of the P17A class, and the ‘Surat,’ the fourth stealth destroyer of the P15B class, to the Indian Navy. Both vessels were constructed by Mazagon Dock and designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau, emphasizing indigenous capabilities and advanced technology.

The ‘Nilgiri’ features cutting-edge stealth technology, improving survivability and maneuverability, and is equipped with a variety of modern weapons and sensors, allowing it to operate independently and serve as a flagship in naval operations. The ‘Surat’ showcases enhanced versatility among destroyers, armed with advanced surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, and boasts 72% indigenous content—higher than previous classes—reinforcing the Government’s emphasis on self-reliance in defense.
