Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has partnered with Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (ARE&M) to introduce the Made-in-India AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries for its domestic vehicle lineup. This innovative technology will be integrated into HMIL's models as SLI batteries, marking a milestone as HMIL becomes the first automaker in India to utilize locally manufactured AGM batteries. The AGM batteries have demonstrated superior durability, outperforming conventional CMF batteries by approximately 150%.

Scheduled for rollout in Q4 of FY 2024-2025, this initiative aligns with HMIL's commitment to localization and supports the Government of India’s 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. The AGM batteries not only promise enhanced performance in real-world driving conditions but also contribute to economic development by fostering local job creation and reducing reliance on imports. This strategic move positions both HMIL and ARE&M for significant growth in the automotive energy solutions market, underscoring a positive outlook for future vehicle models tailored to Indian consumers.
