Maruti Suzuki India Limited — Important, 17-12-2024: General Updates
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a historic production milestone by manufacturing 2 million vehicles in a calendar year for the first time, marking a significant feat as the sole OEM in India to do so. The 2 millionth vehicle, an Ertiga, was rolled out from the state-of-the-art facility in Manesar, Haryana, with almost 60% produced in Haryana and 40% in Gujarat. The top five models include Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR, and Brezza.
The company, known for its robust manufacturing capabilities and commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative, operates three facilities with a combined production capacity of 2.35 million units annually. To meet rising demand, Maruti Suzuki plans to expand this capacity to 4 million units, including a new greenfield plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, expected to be operational by 2025, and another facility in planning stages. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki contributes nearly 40% of total passenger vehicle exports from India. This achievement could enhance the company's market positioning and growth trajectory, warranting close investor attention.
