Zaynich™ (Zidebactam/Cefepime, WCK 5222) has successfully facilitated a liver transplant for a 73-year-old cancer patient in the US, after traditional antibiotics failed. The patient suffered from a chronic infection due to extensively drug-resistant pathogens, specifically Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Following 15 days of treatment with Zaynich™, her infection was cleared, allowing the transplant to proceed.

This marks a significant milestone, with 45 patients having benefited from the compassionate use program of Zidebactam/Cefepime for life-threatening infections. Zaynich™, currently nearing the completion of Phase III studies, is positioned to address the urgent need for effective treatments against multi-drug resistant Gram-negative infections.
