Hindustan Zinc has revealed impressive energy savings of over 0.8 million GJ in the last year, equating to enough energy to power more than 70,000 Indian households. The company is also expanding its renewable power delivery agreement from 450 MW to 530 MW, aiming for over 70% renewable energy contribution by 2026. This initiative underscores its commitment to sustainability and aligns with its aspiration to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 or earlier.

The ongoing investments in energy efficiency, including upgrades to turbines and switching to cleaner fuels, have led to a 14% reduction in GHG emissions intensity since the 2020 baseline, despite increased production volumes. Hindustan Zinc has been recognized as the world's most sustainable company in its sector and has introduced EcoZen, Asia's first low-carbon zinc brand produced using renewable energy, which boasts a carbon footprint significantly lower than the global average. The company is solidifying its role in the metals and mining industry while prioritizing environmental goals and energy efficiency.
