Lupin has acquired anti-diabetes trademarks GIBTULIO®, GIBTULIO MET®, and AJADUO® from Boehringer Ingelheim to enhance its diabetes treatment portfolio in India. The transfer of trademark rights is expected to be completed by March next year. Lupin has been co-marketing GIBTULIO® and GIBTULIO MET® since 2016 and AJADUO® since 2018.

These brands are part of the SGLT-2 inhibitor class, crucial for improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. With a significant diabetic population in India, estimated at 80 million, this acquisition reinforces Lupin’s strategy to provide effective and affordable treatment options. The deal underscores the company's commitment to addressing the growing prevalence of diabetes and reinforces its market position in the pharmaceutical sector. Investors should watch closely as this move could lead to increased market share and revenue growth in the diabetes segment.
