GHCL Limited — Updates, 12-12-2024: Press Release

GHCL has received environmental clearance for its Soda Ash Greenfield Project in Kutch, Gujarat, which will enable the establishment of a 1.1 MMTPA soda ash plant with a capital investment of ₹6,500 crore. This approval is pivotal for GHCL as it seeks to enhance production capacity almost twofold, addressing the growing domestic soda ash demand, projected to reach 7.0 MTPA by 2030. Currently, India's production stands at 3.6 MTPA, providing only 6% of global capacity.

The new plant aims to integrate advanced technology, focusing on carbon neutrality and the use of green energy resources. Additionally, it will foster local community support through corporate social responsibility initiatives, generating direct and indirect employment opportunities, and promoting the establishment of MSMEs in logistics and packaging. This strategic move is expected to align with India’s green energy vision, which targets 500 GW of installed capacity by 2030, offering a positive outlook for GHCL's growth in an expanding market.
