NLC India Limited has commenced commercial operations of the first unit of its 3 x 660 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh. This milestone represents the company’s inaugural venture into supercritical power generation technology, enhancing its energy portfolio significantly. With this new addition, the total installed power generation capacity of NLC India and its group companies has surged from 6,071 MW to 6,731 MW.
The Ghatampur project aims to meet increasing power demands in Uttar Pradesh and Assam while utilizing advanced technology for greater efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and lower emissions compared to conventional thermal plants. The plant features a robust environmental management system with high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators and flue-gas desulfurization units. This venture marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between NLC India and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, strengthening both entities’ capabilities in the regional power sector.
