Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has achieved a major milestone in the Delhi Metro Phase IV by completing the longest tunnelling drive, measuring 2.65 km, using the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) AMRIT. This breakthrough was completed at Maa Anandmayee Marg Station, part of the DC-07 package, which includes 11.26 km of tunnelling and three underground stations. The tunnelling was completed through challenging mixed soil and hard rock, requiring frequent cutter replacements. The project, part of the Aerocity to Tughlakabad corridor, operates at an average depth of about 16 meters, with around 1,894 concrete rings installed. The concurrent construction is ongoing for a parallel tunnel, which is expected to see a breakthrough in January 2025. This successful operation underscores Afcons' capability and strategic positioning in large-scale infrastructure projects, potentially enhancing stakeholder confidence and market positioning.
