Gateway Distriparks Limited has launched a new container train service to Kandla Port, enhancing connectivity to its five Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, and Kashipur. Kandla becomes the fourth port serviced by the company in the Western region, joining Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva. This strategic move bolsters Gateway’s logistics network, catering to critical industrial regions. Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Prem Kishan Dass Gupta, emphasized that while initial volumes are expected to be modest, substantial growth is anticipated without incurring additional capital expenditures or new rake deployment. The service will utilize existing fleet operations through a hub-and-spoke model, promoting cost efficiency and benefiting customers and shareholders. Additionally, the double-stack operations will facilitate improved efficiency and reduced transit times for containers from Ludhiana and Kashipur. The company’s extensive network and operational flexibility position it for future growth potential.
