GAIL (India) Limited has signed a long-term charter contract with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) for a new-built LNG ship, expected to start operations in 2027. This modern two-stroke vessel will have a tank capacity of 1,74,000 cubic meters and will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries. This marks GAIL's first long-term charter agreement with “K” LINE, focusing on LNG transportation. GAIL currently has four LNG vessels in operation and plans to add two more next year. The company's diverse sourcing portfolio covers over 15 MMTPA from various geographies, primarily serving domestic and international demand through its LNG fleet. This partnership is a strategic move to enhance GAIL's logistics capabilities in LNG transport, indicating a positive outlook for operational growth.
