Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured a significant contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited to develop High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) terminal stations at Khavda and Nagpur. This project will facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy from the Khavda region in Gujarat, contributing to India's 500GW renewable energy transmission plan.
The contract involves a consortium with Hitachi Energy India Limited and signifies a major advancement, being the first HVDC project awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.
