Hitachi Energy India Limited — Updates, 25-11-2024: Press Release

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has awarded a significant contract to Hitachi Energy India Limited and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the design and execution of a high voltage direct current (HVDC) link. This ±800 kV, 6,000 MW bi-pole and bi-directional HVDC link will transmit renewable energy from Khavda in Gujarat to Nagpur, a distance of over 1,200 kilometers. The project is part of India’s Phase-V (8 GW) renewable energy initiative and aims to enhance the country’s transmission infrastructure, facilitating a shift towards cleaner energy sources.

The project will utilize advanced HVDC technology to support the integration of renewable energy into the grid.
