Grasim Industries has commenced commercial production at its newly constructed Birla Opus Paints plant in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka. This facility marks the fourth of a planned six plants, boosting the manufacturing capacity to 866 MLPA, positioning Birla Opus as the second-largest player in the decorative paints sector by installed capacity. The Chamarajanagar plant will produce water-based paints, enamel paints, and wood finishes, enhancing the company’s ability to meet rising demand, particularly in the southern region. Grasim has invested Rs. 8,470 Cr (85% of total project costs) in the paints business, aimed at achieving a revenue target of Rs. 10,000 Cr within three years. The company is already witnessing robust growth and positive customer feedback, with a product range that emphasizes quality and innovative features, further supporting its strategic growth objectives.
