Shirpur Gold Refinery LimitedImportant, 14-11-2024: Financial Result Updates

14-11-2024 | 08:34 pm

For the second quarter and half-year of the financial year 2024-2025, Shirpur Gold Refinery Limited reported consolidated revenues of ₹8.71 crore, reflecting a significant decline compared to the previous year's ₹13.70 crore, indicating a revenue drop of approximately 36%. The primary drivers of this decline include ongoing operational challenges due to ceased operations since 2020 and the company's position within the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP).

Net loss for the quarter stood at ₹6.60 crore, an increase from the loss of ₹6.01 crore in the same quarter of the prior year. This deterioration is driven by increased operational inefficiencies and elevated finance costs totaling ₹17.55 crore compared to ₹8.72 crore a year ago, largely as the result of high borrowing costs and provisioning during the CIRP period. Earnings Per Share (EPS) remains negative at ₹(2.26) for the current quarter.

Operational costs surged by 65% from the previous year to ₹37.84 crore, reflecting increased expenditures on financing and maintenance during the CIRP. Notably, while there were some efforts to mitigate costs, the company struggled with significant expenses related to personnel and compliance during the insolvency process.

The balance sheet reflects total assets of ₹449.46 crore, with equity attributable to shareholders declining to ₹(289.38) crore. Current liabilities also increased to ₹691.92 crore, suggesting liquidity challenges are a continuing concern.

Market sentiment appears to be negative given the prolonged operational halt and CIRP context, but observers remain cautiously optimistic that potential asset realizations could aid in future recovery efforts. Considering the substantial financial headwinds, a cautious approach is recommended for investors until clearer pathways to stabilization and recovery emerge.
