MT Educare Limited — Important, 14-11-2024: Financial Result Updates
MT Educare Limited has announced a board meeting on November 14, 2024, where the financial results were reviewed and recorded. The company is currently under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) as mandated by the National Company Law Tribunal.
For the half-year ended September 30, 2024, consolidated revenue from operations stood at ₹25,463.08 crore, showing a decrease from the previous half-year, attributed to ongoing operational challenges amidst the insolvency proceedings. The net loss for the period reached ₹1,222.38 crore, a significant decline compared to the net loss of ₹599.50 crore in the corresponding half last year. The Earnings Per Share (EPS), as a result, reflects this loss at ₹-1.66, down from ₹-0.82 previously, influenced by high operational costs and reduced revenue.
Total expenses for the half-year were reported at ₹27,678.09 crore, with direct expenses accounting for a substantial portion due to high fees paid to faculty and material costs. Operational costs increased by approximately 35% as compared to the previous year, primarily driven by ongoing inefficiencies and high financing costs, indicating a need for improved cost management.
The balance sheet reflects total liabilities of ₹26,403.34 crore against total assets of ₹28,145.66 crore, resulting in a declining equity base of ₹1,742.32 crore. Cash and cash equivalents decreased significantly to ₹183.00 crore at the end of the half-year, posing liquidity challenges.
Given the ongoing restructuring and negative cash flows, market sentiment remains cautious. A prudent approach is recommended: hold the current position in the stock while monitoring developments in the resolution process, which will be crucial for assessing long-term viability and recovery prospects.
