14-11-2024 | 01:24 pm

For the quarter ended 30th September 2024, The Andhra Sugars Limited reported consolidated financial results reflecting significant performance aspects in their operations.

Revenue from operations increased by 10.45% to ₹52,841.79 Cr compared to ₹48,002.22 Cr in the previous quarter. The primary drivers of this growth may include an uptick in demand across the company’s segments, particularly in chlor-alkali and industrial chemicals, alongside improved market conditions.

Net profit for the quarter was ₹502.72 Cr, a decrease from the earlier ₹1,955.56 Cr, primarily attributed to declining selling prices of chlor-alkali products and other chemicals. Earnings Per Share (EPS) stood at ₹0.33, showcasing significant year-over-year changes reflecting the profitability challenges faced this period.

Operational costs surged, indicating a rise of approximately 30% in cost of materials consumed, which rose to ₹24,720.81 Cr. This increase reflects pressure on margins, potentially exacerbated by rising raw material costs and operational inefficiencies during the quarter.

From a balance sheet perspective, total assets slightly increased to ₹21,233.99 Cr, while liabilities showed an upward trend as well, reinforcing concerns on leverage moving forward. Cash and cash equivalents fell to ₹1,842.91 Cr, indicating potential liquidity challenges.

Strategically, the focus may need to pivot towards cost management and price stabilization to enhance profit margins and retain investor confidence moving forward.

Based on these financial metrics, retail investors might consider a 'hold' position as the company navigates through a challenging pricing environment while aiming for overall operational efficiency improvement.
