Financial Performance: Trucap Finance Limited reported a pretax profit of ₹49 million for the first half of FY25, an increase from ₹44 million year-on-year. In Q2 alone, interest income surged to ₹503 million, reflecting a robust growth rate of 86% year-on-year and 17% quarter-over-quarter. The company’s net interest margin improved to 7.1% from 5.2%, attributed to increased activity with lending-as-a-service partners, which now represent 47% of total assets under management (AUM). The total AUM rose significantly to ₹12.2 billion, up from ₹7.8 billion a year ago, with gold loans accounting for 65% of this figure.

Future Outlook and Growth Drivers: Management highlighted a strategic focus on enhancing efficiency within their existing branch network instead of aggressive expansion, which had seen 120 branches established in the prior fiscal. The company aims to boost productivity at branches, expecting an incremental growth of 2-3 profitable branches each quarter.

Order Book and Operational Updates: The company reported steady disbursement growth, reaching ₹6.5 billion, with a significant portion derived from MSME gold loans and three-wheeler EV loans. Notably, the gross NPA remains low at 2.6% overall, with gold loans maintaining a GNPA of just 50 basis points.

Analyst Q&A Insights: Analysts inquired about yield management, with management noting the average yield at about 19.3%. They expressed a cautious view on raising yields due to competitive pressures. Questions regarding branch break-even revealed a typical duration of 11 to 13 months for profitability, contingent on achieving an AUM size of ₹3.5 to 4 crore.

Strategic Focus Areas: Management emphasized enhancing customer service and retaining clients as a strategic differentiator. Going forward, they will look to attract impact funds, which align with their business model supporting underserved segments.

Investor Insight: Trucap's strong financial performance and prudent strategy focusing on efficiency and AUM growth suggest a favorable outlook. Given the low NPA ratio and robust growth in disbursements, a buy position seems justified, contingent on maintaining effective cost management and operational efficiency.
