Infibeam Avenues Ltd has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) Bangalore to develop advanced real-time deepfake detection systems. This initiative aims to address the escalating threats posed by deepfake technology, which can lead to significant financial losses and misinformation. The company cites a recent incident where a Hong Kong-based firm lost approximately Rs 207 crore due to a deepfake scam, emphasizing the urgent need for such detection systems.
Under this collaboration, Infibeam’s AI unit, Phronetic.AI, will work closely with IISc to create effective detection models tailored for real-time video communication. The goal is to enhance cybersecurity and prevent misuse of deepfake technology. This innovative project includes developing a user-friendly interface for verifying the authenticity of visuals and audio, promising scalability across various high-risk sectors including banking, healthcare, and law enforcement. The partnership positions Infibeam as a key player in combating digital fraud while enhancing trust in digital communications.
