izmo Microsystems has partnered with IIT Madras as its exclusive industry collaborator on an innovative project at the Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems. This partnership aims to advance the design, development, and packaging of programmable photonic processors using Silicon Photonics Technology, catering to the growing needs of microwave and quantum photonics applications. The centre was established with significant funding of Rs. 2,665 Cr from the Government of India and Rs. 325 Cr from izmo Microsystems.
The collaboration is poised to position India as a frontrunner in semiconductor and photonics innovation. The global silicon photonics market is expected to reach $4.6 billion by 2027, driven by rising demands for data transmission in data centers. As the partnership unfolds, izmo Microsystems aims to leverage its expertise in System-in-Package solutions to create efficient, high-performance photonic chips essential for the future of computing, including AI and quantum technologies.
