Bharti Airtel, through its subsidiary Bharti Hexacom, has made a significant move by prepaying an additional Rs. 5,985 crores in high-cost spectrum liabilities, fully clearing the associated debts from the 2024 auctions with an interest rate of 8.65%. This brings the total prepayment of high-cost spectrum liabilities to Rs. 66,665 crores, reflecting a strong commitment to financial prudence. The cumulative prepayments have eliminated Rs. 116,405 crores in scheduled installments that would have been due over the original duration of these liabilities, positioning the company favorably.

The residual spectrum liabilities now carry an average interest rate of 7.22%, extending until FY 2042, further improving Airtel's cost of debt. Additionally, Bharti Airtel's subsidiary has redeemed $1 billion in perpetual notes issued in FY 2020, which reflects strategic financial management. This proactive approach not only strengthens Airtel's balance sheet but also enhances its operational efficiency, indicating a positive outlook for future performance.
