Bharti Airtel Limited — Updates, 26-03-2025: Press Release
Bharti Airtel has made a significant move by prepaying an additional Rs. 5,985 crores toward high-cost spectrum liabilities, addressing debt linked to the 2024 auctions with an interest rate of 8.65%. This brings the total cumulative prepayment of spectrum liabilities to Rs. 66,665 crores, demonstrating a strong commitment to reducing debt and financial prudence, with these actions taken approximately seven years ahead of average residual maturities.
Additionally, Airtel's subsidiary, Network i2i Ltd., voluntarily redeemed $1 billion in perpetual debt securities, further strengthening its balance sheet. Following these payments, Airtel's average cost of debt on remaining spectrum liabilities has decreased to around 7.22% on the remaining Rs. 52,000 crores. This proactive debt management enhances Airtel's financial stability and positions it favorably for future growth. Investors should watch closely as these measures could yield positive long-term implications for operational efficiency and profitability.
