Jindal Steel & Power has been declared the successful bidder for the Saradhapur Jalatap East coal block, strategically located just 11 km from its Angul steel plant. The block boasts estimated geological resources of 3,257 million tonnes, and JSP will secure a revenue share of 10%. This acquisition, part of Round - 11 of the commercial coal block auction by the Ministry of Coal, is a key move towards backward integration, ensuring a steady supply of raw materials vital for steelmaking. It significantly mitigates risks related to supply chain disruptions and price fluctuations, positioning JSP for sustainable growth and operational efficiency while supporting the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" initiative.
