Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited — Updates, 02-04-2025: Press Release
Kirloskar Oil Engines (KOEL) has secured a significant project funding order from the Indian Navy for the design and development of a 6MW Medium Speed Marine Diesel Engine, under the Make-I initiative. The project will involve an investment of Rs 270 Cr, with 70% financed by the Government of India. This initiative emphasizes indigenisation, as over 50% of the engine's content will be locally sourced. The planned engines, scalable from 3 MW to 10 MW, will serve as main propulsion and power generation systems for Indian Navy and Coast Guard vessels, reducing reliance on imported units.
KOEL's Managing Director, Gauri Kirloskar, expressed pride in being selected for this critical project, marking a pivotal moment in the company's commitment to 'Make in India.' The project showcases KOEL's engineering prowess and aligns with the government’s goal of self-reliance in defence technology. This order represents a positive development for KOEL, enhancing its capabilities and strategic positioning in the marine engineering sector. Investors should note the potential growth opportunities ahead as the project progresses.
