A consortium of Hitachi Energy India Limited and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has secured a significant contract from Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited to design and deliver a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system. This 6,000 MW, ±800 kV HVDC link, spanning 950 kilometers, will facilitate the transmission of renewable energy from Bhadla in Rajasthan to Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, potentially powering around 60 million households.
The project, part of India's strategy to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity, emphasizes the importance of robust energy infrastructure amidst growing power demands. Hitachi Energy's commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and technology localization positions it well to meet the surging energy needs expected as India aims to become the world's third-largest economy by 2030.
