Indian Overseas Bank is undergoing significant changes due to the amalgamation of regional rural banks. The Central Government, with input from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, has approved the merger of Odisha Gramya Bank and Utkal Grameen Bank into a single entity named Odisha Grameen Bank, effective from May 1, 2025. This new bank will be sponsored by Indian Overseas Bank.
The authorized capital for the new bank will be ₹2,000 crore, divided into 200 crore fully paid shares. The subscribed share capital will transfer from the merging banks, ensuring continuity in operations. This merger signifies strategic consolidation aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer service in the banking sector.
