Upsurge Seeds Of Agriculture LimitedCredit Ratings, 16-04-2025: Credit Rating- Others

16-04-2025 · 11:36 am

Upsurge Seeds of Agriculture Limited reported total operating income of ₹133 crore for FY24, a significant increase from ₹83 crore in FY23, driven by a 7% rise in sales realization and a 55% uplift in groundnut seed sales, which constituted 62% of their revenue. The profit after tax (PAT) stood at ₹7.25 crore, an increase compared to ₹4.76 crore in FY23, while the earnings per share (EPS) for FY24 was approximately ₹3.64. The PBILDT margin improved slightly to 10.14% from 10.03%, substantiated by better sales performance.

Operational costs appear controlled with a gearing ratio of 1.04x as of March 31, 2024, down from 1.26x in FY23, indicating enhanced capital structure stability. However, the operating cycle elongated to 222 days from 213 days, primarily due to inventory management challenges, requiring substantial stock levels to mitigate risks from fluctuating agricultural conditions.

The company's strong distribution network spans over 500 distributors across key agricultural regions, although revenue remains geographically concentrated, with Gujarat accounting for about 85% of the sales. The credit rating agency assigned a rating of CARE BBB- with a stable outlook, reflecting adequate liquidity and manageable debt levels while cautioning against the risks of climatic dependency and competitive pressures.

In terms of investor insight, consider a buy position if sales growth continues and operational efficiencies are realized; however, be wary of the operational risks inherent in the agricultural sector.
