Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is acquiring a 58.96% stake in SML Isuzu Ltd., comprising 43.96% from Sumitomo Corporation and 15% from Isuzu Motors Ltd., at Rs. 650 per share, totaling Rs. 555 crore. This strategic move aims to enhance Mahindra's presence in the trucks and buses segment, currently holding a 3% market share in vehicles over 3.5 tons. Post-acquisition, Mahindra expects to double its market share to 6%, with plans to grow it further by FY31 and FY36. The deal is anticipated to unlock operational synergies and bolster Mahindra's competitive edge in the commercial vehicle industry.
