Punjab National Bank — Results, 07-05-2025: Integrated Filing- Financial
Punjab National Bank has announced a board meeting on May 7, 2025, to consider the financial results for the quarter and half-year.
1) Revenue Performance: On a consolidated basis, total revenue grew to Rs. 14,045.68 Cr from Rs. 12,239.40 Cr last year, driven by treasury operations alongside robust corporate/wholesale and retail banking segments.
2) Profitability and EPS: Net profit surged to Rs. 18,480 Cr from Rs. 9,107 Cr, with EPS rising to Rs. 16.42 from Rs. 8.27. Operating profit margin held steady near 19%, supported by disciplined provisioning and income growth.
3) Operational Costs: Operating expenses edged up modestly, mainly from higher employee and other costs, but efficiency improved as expense growth was contained relative to revenue gains.
4) Key Metrics: Asset quality strengthened with Gross NPAs down to 3.95% from 5.73% and Net NPAs declining to 0.40%. Capital adequacy ratio improved to 17.01%, reinforcing financial stability. Provisions were managed judiciously, supporting profitability.
5) Balance Sheet / Cash Flow Health: Deposits rose slightly to Rs. 15,770.20 Cr, borrowings increased moderately. The bank bolstered liquidity by raising Rs. 2,950 Cr through long-term bonds and Rs. 5,000 Cr via QIP. Cash balances enhanced to Rs. 1,314 Cr.
6) Management Outlook: Focus remains on expanding digital banking, growing retail loans, and diversifying fee income. Conservative provisioning on stressed assets underlines cautious risk management. A dividend of Rs. 2.90/share is proposed.
The bank’s strong earnings growth, improving asset quality, and healthy capital position signal positive momentum. Retail investors can view these trends as supportive of sustainable growth over the medium term.
