Andhra Cements has announced a board meeting on May 12, 2025, approving the financial results for the quarter and half-year.

1) Revenue Performance: Total income for the year stood at ₹281.54 Cr, up marginally from ₹276.62 Cr last year, indicating flat to modest growth primarily driven by revenue from operations of ₹274.05 Cr.

2) Profitability and EPS: The company reported a net loss of ₹152.11 Cr, widening from a loss of ₹65.61 Cr the previous year. EPS declined to negative ₹16.50 from a loss per share of ₹7.12. Losses were impacted by higher expenses and exceptional charges.

3) Operational Costs: Expenses rose sharply to ₹449.79 Cr from ₹398.30 Cr, mainly due to increased power and fuel costs (₹154.40 Cr vs ₹149.82 Cr), finance costs (₹74.86 Cr vs ₹70.54 Cr), and depreciation (₹71.63 Cr vs ₹56.41 Cr). Despite inventory changes aiding cash flow, cost inflation hurt margins.

4) Key Metrics: EBITDA remains pressured and loss before tax widened to ₹174.51 Cr. Exceptional cost adjustments of ₹6.26 Cr on fuel and power weighed on profitability.

5) Balance Sheet / Cash Flow Health: Borrowings slightly reduced to ₹576.51 Cr from ₹594.52 Cr. Capex stayed high at ₹84.59 Cr. Operating cash flows improved to ₹59.55 Cr, but heavy investing outflows led to a net cash decline of ₹10.52 Cr.

6) Management Outlook: The focus remains on managing power and fuel costs, evidenced by exceptional cost adjustments and pending asset sales of cement mills. Rights issue plans aim at strengthening the balance sheet.

Final Takeaway: Andhra Cements is struggling with rising losses and cost pressures, though better cash flow and marginal debt reduction provide some comfort. Retail investors should monitor progress on cost controls and operational efficiency for a clearer recovery signal.
