REC Limited has set up three wholly owned subsidiaries under REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited to drive intra-state transmission projects in Karnataka. Hampapura Power Transmission will manage a 400 KV substation at Mandya, Sharavathi Power Transmission will handle evacuation for a 2000 MW pumped storage plant, and Ryapte Power Transmission will oversee evacuation for a 2000 MW solar park at Tumkur. These subsidiaries aim to streamline project execution and transfer assets to winning developers after bidding. This move positions REC to capture transmission opportunities in Karnataka’s growing power sector.
