24-05-2025 | 05:56 pm

Salzer Electronics Ltd. has announced a board meeting on May 24, 2025, approving the financial results for the quarter and half-year ended March 31, 2025, and declared a dividend of Rs. 2.50 per share (25%).

Standalone revenue rose to Rs. 365.58 Cr from Rs. 317.57 Cr YoY, with PAT jumping to Rs. 62.26 Cr from Rs. 43.19 Cr, driven by better operational efficiencies and higher sales. Consolidated revenue reached Rs. 378 Cr vs Rs. 326.57 Cr last year, with PAT at Rs. 52.46 Cr vs Rs. 47.07 Cr. Basic EPS showed significant improvement across standalone and consolidated results.

Issue: The company wrote off its entire investment in two subsidiaries related to the EV space—Rs. 83 lakh in Salzer Kostad EV Chargers Pvt Ltd and Rs. 34.75 lakh in Salzer Emarch Electromobility Pvt Ltd—due to operational challenges and unprofitability.

Impact: These write-offs highlight setbacks in diversification into EV infrastructure and vehicle conversion kits. While the amounts are small, they pressure earnings and signal a strategic pullback from underperforming ventures to avoid further losses.

Company response: Salzer is doubling down on its core electrical installation product business, reflected in strong earnings. The board approved new appointments for secretarial, cost, and internal auditors to enhance governance. A one-time gain from selling part of its stake in Kaycee Industries also boosted profits. The company remains focused on profitable growth areas and maintaining financial stability.

Investor takeaway: Robust core growth and improving profitability support the dividend and long-term stability. The pruning of loss-making EV subsidiaries indicates prudent management of diversification risks. Salzer remains a solid defensive play in electrical products with steady income—monitor for updates on its strategic direction and growth initiatives.
