The Rajasthan government plans to develop Dol Ka Badh, a 105-acre forest near Jaipur, into a Fintech Park, Unity Mall, hotels, and a cultural center. Although legally designated as industrial land since the 1980s, the area remains a dense forest with over 2,400 native trees, including the state tree Khejri, more than 60 medicinal herbs, 85 bird species, and wildlife like Nilgai and peacocks. This move threatens a vital green lung and biodiversity hotspot, sparking opposition from locals and environmentalists concerned about its ecological impact.
